Mobile crane rental in Elko, NV
A hydraulic mobile crane delivered with its certified operator, for construction, plant and mine-site lifts across Elko County: pumps and motors, pipe, steel, tanks and rooftop units. Send the lift details and local operators quote you directly.
A quote-request service: we don't own cranes. Your request goes to independent operators who work Elko County.
What an operated crane quote covers
An operated rental, often called crane and operator or a crane service, means you hire the lift, not just the machine. The operator runs the crane, reads its load chart and works out the set-up on your site.
- The crane, driven or hauled to your site and set up on its outriggers and pads.
- A certified operator for that crane type and capacity. Ask to see the card.
- Rigging and a signalperson if you ask for them. Otherwise your crew rigs the load. See rigging and signalperson.
- Time on site. Ask whether the price has an hourly or daily minimum.
- Travel from the operator's yard. Carlin, Wells and the far valleys can add travel time.
Which crane fits the lift
The operator picks the machine from the load, the reach and the ground. These are the common types, and the questions that decide between them.
| Crane | Where it fits | Ask about |
|---|---|---|
| Hydraulic truck crane | Paved or firm ground in Elko, Spring Creek and plant yards. Drives to the job on its own chassis. | Room for the outriggers at the set-up spot |
| All-terrain crane | Road travel plus firmer work pads, for bigger or longer-reach lifts. | Access road width and turning room |
| Rough terrain crane | Gravel pads, mine roads and remote sites where a road crane can't set up. | How it gets to site and ground firmness |
| Carry deck crane | Plant floors, shops and tight yards. BigRentz lists a 2.5 ton carry deck crane in Elko. | Floor capacity and doorway clearance |
| Boom truck | Lighter picks: poles, pumps, HVAC units and signs. | Whether the load and reach suit a boom truck |
When Elko crews call for one
Carlin mine operations hire process maintenance mechanics and drill and shovel technicians, and maintenance at that scale means heavy pumps, motors and parts to lift. Town, plant and ranch work adds the rest.
- Pump and motor installs and swaps at processing plants and mine shops.
- Pipe setting for water and process lines.
- Mine equipment rigging during planned maintenance. See mine site lifts.
- Structural steel, trusses and precast on builds in Elko and Spring Creek.
- Rooftop HVAC units on commercial buildings. See rooftop HVAC and steel lifts.
- Tanks, generators and skids set on pads.
What to have ready
This is what the operator asks first. Rough numbers are fine; "not sure" is a fine answer and the operator will ask follow-up questions or come and look.
- Load
- What it is, its weight (nameplate, spec sheet or shipping papers) and its size.
- Pick and set points
- Where the load sits now and where it has to land.
- Reach
- Distance from where the crane can set up to the set point.
- Height
- Height of the set point, the roof or the structure it clears.
- Ground and access
- Paved, gravel, dirt or steep; gates, overhead clearance, room for outriggers.
- Power lines
- Any overhead lines near the set-up or the swing path.
- Site rules
- MSHA training, NCCCO card, lift plan, certificate of insurance.
- Dates
- Start date, hours on site, one pick or several days.
Rules on the job
Operator certification
OSHA's crane rule for construction (29 CFR 1926.1427) requires crane operators to be certified or licensed through an accredited testing organization. NCCCO is the most common route. Certification is specific to crane type and capacity and runs for five years, so check that the card matches the crane quoted.
Mine sites
Surface mines fall under MSHA's Part 48 training rules: 24 hours of new miner training and an 8-hour refresher every year, plus the mine's own site-specific hazard training. The mine sets the rules and the gate checks the records. More on mine site lifts.
Power lines and lift plans
Tell the operator about any overhead lines near the set-up; the form asks. Mine sites and general contractors may require a written lift plan for heavy or complex picks, so ask your site's safety contact before the quote and pass the answer on.
Mobile crane questions
Does a mobile crane rental include the operator?
On this page, yes. An operated rental means the crane comes with its operator, and the quote covers the operator's time. If you want a bare rental with your own qualified operator, choose that in the form. Not every operator offers it.
How do I know what size crane I need?
Give the operator the heaviest load, the distance from where the crane can set up to where the load lands, and the lift height. A crane's capacity drops as the reach grows, so reach matters as much as weight. The operator picks the crane from its load chart.
What certification should the operator have?
For construction work, OSHA's crane rule (29 CFR 1926.1427) requires a certified or licensed operator, and NCCCO is the most common route. Certification is specific to crane type and capacity, so ask for the card that matches the crane on your job.
Can an operator send a crane to a mine near Carlin?
Ask for it in the form. The crew needs MSHA training under Part 48 (24-hour new miner training and an 8-hour annual refresher for surface mines) plus the mine's site-specific hazard training. The mine sets the rules, so have your site contact confirm what the gate will check.
Is there a minimum rental time?
Ask each operator. Some price by the hour with a minimum call-out, others by the day, and travel from the yard can be charged on top. The quote you get should spell it out.
How much does a mobile crane cost in Elko?
We don't publish a crane rate because we haven't confirmed a reliable Elko price range. The price depends on crane size, hours on site, travel, rigging and site requirements, and each operator quotes the job from your details.
